Uptime & Reliability
Does my bot sleep or go offline when I'm not using it?

Never. getDiscordBot runs your bot as a persistent process with zero sleep timers — on every plan, including the free trial. Your bot maintains a live WebSocket connection to Discord's gateway at all times.

This is fundamental to how Discord bots work. Platforms like Replit, Render (free tier), and the old Railway free plan sleep processes after inactivity — which immediately drops the Discord gateway connection and shows your bot as offline. We don't do that.

What happens if my bot crashes?

You get an instant email alert with the last lines of output from your bot so you know exactly what went wrong. We then automatically restart your bot.

We also include crash-loop protection — if your bot crashes 5 times in 5 minutes, we pause it and notify you, rather than letting it loop endlessly and burn resources. You can restart it manually from the dashboard once you've pushed a fix.

What uptime can I expect?

We target 99.9% uptime for the hosting infrastructure. Your bot's own uptime depends on your code — if it crashes, we restart it automatically within seconds. Planned maintenance is performed with zero-downtime rolling deploys so your bot stays online even during updates.

Does my data survive restarts and redeploys?

Yes, always. Your bot has a dedicated /data persistent volume that is completely separate from your code. Restarting, redeploying, or even changing your bot.py does not touch /data.

Write your SQLite database, JSON configs, or CSV files to /data/yourfile.db and they'll be there every time your bot starts up. You can also upload files directly from the Storage tab in the dashboard.

Setup & Deploy
How do I deploy my bot? Do I need GitHub or a CLI?

No GitHub, no CLI, no server knowledge needed. Here's the entire process:

1. Sign up → 2. Create a bot → 3. Paste your bot.py into the code editor → 4. Add your Discord token in the Secrets tab as DISCORD_TOKEN → 5. Click Deploy.

Your bot is live in under 5 minutes. You can also add a requirements.txt alongside bot.py if you use external packages — we install them automatically on every deploy.

How should I pass my Discord bot token?

Never paste your token directly into your code — store it as a secret environment variable. In the dashboard, go to the Secrets tab, add a key DISCORD_TOKEN with your token as the value, then save and redeploy.

In your code, read it with os.environ["DISCORD_TOKEN"]. This keeps your token out of your source code and prevents accidental exposure.

What Python libraries and versions are supported?

Any library on PyPI — just list them in requirements.txt. The most popular Discord libraries work perfectly out of the box:

discord.py · nextcord · py-cord · hikari · disnake

Python versions 3.10, 3.11, and 3.12 are supported. You can choose your preferred version when creating your bot.

Can I upload multiple files and use cogs / extensions?

Yes. The code editor supports multiple files in the same project. You can create additional .py files — like cogs/moderation.py — and import them from your bot.py as normal Python imports. The multi-file editor is available to all users.

What if the platform is at capacity?

You can still sign up and your bot is queued for a slot. When capacity opens up, your deploy runs automatically and you get an email confirmation. You won't miss a thing — your place in the queue is saved.

Pricing & Billing
Do I need a credit card to start the free trial?

No credit card required. Free Trial The 15-day developer trial is completely free — sign up with just your email address. Your bot runs with no restrictions during the trial (1 bot, 96MB RAM, always-on, no sleep timers).

If you want to continue after the trial, you can upgrade to a paid plan from the Billing page.

Do I need to know how to code to use getDiscordBot?

Yes. getDiscordBot is built specifically for developers who write their own Python Discord bot code (using discord.py, nextcord, py-cord, or hikari). We handle the container runtime, 24/7 uptime, and restarts so you don't have to manage a Linux server. We do not provide no-code or pre-made bot templates.

What does each plan include?

Developer Trial (15 days): 1 bot, 96MB RAM, 100MB storage, 7-day log retention. No card required.

Starter ($4.99/mo): 1 bot, 128MB RAM, 200MB storage, always-on uptime, crash email alerts, live console, persistent SQLite storage, multi-file editor.

Pro ($9.99/mo): 3 bots, 128MB RAM each, 500MB storage, 14-day log retention, priority support. Same always-on guarantees as Starter, just more bots.

All plans include: zero sleep timers, crash recovery, live logs, secrets management, and the full IDE editor.

Can I cancel anytime? Is there a lock-in?

Cancel any time with one click — no questions asked, no cancellation fee, no lock-in period. Go to your Billing page and click "Cancel subscription." Your bot keeps running until the end of the current billing cycle.

What is the refund policy?

Since access is granted immediately upon payment, we don't offer refunds for completed billing periods. However, you can cancel anytime to stop future charges. If you experienced a service outage or technical issue on our side, contact us and we'll work it out fairly. Read the full refund policy.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payments are processed via Razorpay, which supports: Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), UPI, PayPal, net banking, and most major wallets. Transactions are PCI-DSS compliant — we never store your raw card details.

Security & Privacy
Is my Discord bot token safe?

Yes. Bot tokens are stored as encrypted environment variables in an isolated Secrets vault — never in plain text, never in your source code files, never logged anywhere. They are injected securely at runtime.

You can also store other sensitive values (database URLs, API keys, etc.) in the Secrets tab using the same encrypted storage.

Is my bot isolated from other users?

Yes. Every bot runs in its own isolated Docker container. Your code, data, secrets, and runtime environment are completely separated from all other users. A misbehaving bot on the platform cannot access or affect yours.

vs. Alternatives
How is this different from Railway?

Railway is a great general-purpose platform, but it charges by resource usage (CPU + RAM seconds) with no simple flat monthly price, making costs unpredictable. It also requires Docker or Nixpacks setup and a GitHub repo. Railway has no Discord-specific features.

getDiscordBot is purpose-built: a flat $4.99/mo price, a browser-based code editor (no GitHub needed), Discord-specific secrets management, crash alerts with log tails, and a console that auto-refreshes stdout. Full Railway comparison →

How is this different from Render?

Render's free tier sleeps background workers after inactivity — which kills Discord gateway connections and shows your bot offline. Their paid "Background Worker" plan starts at $7/mo but requires connecting a GitHub repo and writing a Dockerfile.

getDiscordBot needs no GitHub, no Docker, no YAML configs. Just paste your code and go — for $4.99/mo flat, with Discord-specific tooling built in. Full Render comparison →

Is this better than keeping my bot on Replit?

Replit's free tier sleeps processes, which disconnects your bot from Discord's gateway. Even on paid Replit, the environment is optimised for web apps and REPLs, not persistent background processes — users commonly report their bots going offline randomly.

getDiscordBot guarantees a persistent process with zero sleep timers, automatic crash recovery, and Discord-specific tooling. At $4.99/mo it's also cheaper than Replit's paid Deployments tier for a single bot.

Why not just run my bot on a VPS?

A VPS works, but it means managing Linux, SSH, process supervisors (systemd / pm2), security patches, firewall rules, log rotation, and monitoring — all yourself. If the VPS crashes at 3am, your bot is offline until you notice.

getDiscordBot handles all of that invisibly. You focus purely on your bot's code. For most Discord bot developers, that's worth $4.99/mo. VPS vs managed hosting deep dive →
